As an Application Engineer (Quality), you’ll be a key part of our agile delivery teams– from helping refine and test requirements, to building automated regression test suites. You’ll ultimately help ensure your team continually delivers quality applications into production at Discover. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsibilities
- Work with the engineering team to analyze, design, code, test, and deploy new user stories and product features with high quality (security, reliability, operations) to production
- Has an oversight on application quality, test automation, and guides the team to achieve key quality results for the FAA Identity product area
- Achieves team Quality commitments (and influence others to do the same) through collaboration with other engineers, architects, and product owners
- Helps to grow FAA Quality/Test Strategy standards within the system/application infrastructure and compatibility with the architecture of the platform
- Influence product design and the testability of new features so as to provide an awesome experience for our users
- Collaborate across the FAA Identity teams to drive development of Test Automation Frameworks
- Promote quality within all aspects of development by actively participating in requirements gathering, technical design reviews, etc.
- Create and maintain libraries and object repositories for Automation Frameworks
- Drive continuous integration, recommending approach and technology infrastructure and tools
- Collaborate with other SDETs and Test Engineers in the product area to spread adoption of automation strategy and best practices throughout the FAA Identity teams
- Accountable for not only developing tests but also running and maintaining automation
- Assist in developing mocks/stubs to facilitate unit/integration testing by developers
- Responsibilities include performance testing, automated generation of test data, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
- Bachelors – Computer Science or related
- 3+ Years – Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related
- Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale
Preferred Qualifications
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience working as part of a full cycle Agile delivery team
- Experience developing test automation frameworks using BDD methodologies and Gherkin/Cucumber, Java, Junit, Jenkins for CI/CD, Git, and Test Data management tools for web, and backend database intensive applications
- Experience testing applications written in Java, JavaScript, React, Angular and Unix shell scripts
- Experience performing Contract testing with PACT
- Experience with Linux/Unix for automating batch testing
- Leading team in Discovery and Example mapping sessions
- Java application development experience
- Strong experience working with Junit and JMeter
- Experience with performance testing is highly preferred
- Experience working with or similar:
- Spring Boot
- Selenium
- OCP, AWS and/or similar Cloud platform
- Rest Apis
- Jenkins
- Oracle, Redis or Postgres
- Playwright
- Wiremock
