Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer for the Flight Simulation Labs - Hardware Interface Systems team, located in Berkeley, MO.

The Flight Simulation Labs organization has expertise supporting marketing, design, development, integration, test and training objectives for Boeing military aircraft. As a project engineer, you will provide technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of simulation environments for T-7 and F-15 programs. The Project Engineer will lead the project execution for the full product design life cycle including, but not limited to, proposal development, estimates, scheduling, requirements, design, acceptance test procedures and associated engineering maintenance support.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works with various customers and teams to lead project execution in the design, procurement, building, integration, and testing of Flight Simulators, Trainers, Manned Flight Hardware Simulators, Avionic Test Benches and Facility Infrastructure

  • Works in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, engaging with multiple teams and being responsive to agile requirements and critical path customer need dates

  • Directs proposal development and leads project execution by identifying activities, resources and events required to complete the work statement

  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans

  • Delegates responsibility for activities to team members and ensures technical correctness and consistency of products and services

  • Produces estimates in support of EVM (earned value management) acting as a CAM(control account management)

  • Assess project performance by holding actual results accountable to baseline plan, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned

  • Identifies performance metrics

  • Engages in direct and frequent interaction with internal Boeing program personnel and occasionally external Navy and USAF personnel (program management, technical teams, and fabrication technicians)

  • Drives process improvements and support problem resolution

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 5% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 9 or more years' related work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, Master+7 years' related work experience or PhD+4 years' related work experience

  •  Experience in managing complex project schedules and managing large scale program and project

  • Experience leading a team or a project

  • Experience in building relationships with internal and/or external customers

  • Experience using analytical, collaboration, communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with CAM (cost account manager) in EVM (earned value management)

  • 3+ years of experience in the mission systems field

  • Experience in mechanical design and analysis

  • Experience with U.S. Navy and Air Force customers

  • 3+ years of experience in an avionics, electrical, and/or a mission systems role

  • 3+ years of experience in electronics and design

  • Experience in Agile Methodologies and tools

  • Participated in every phase of a product lifecycle (e.g. requirements definition, systems design, systems development, systems integration, systems test and systems support)
