Our Mission 

Horizons for Homeless Children is a local non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of young homeless children in Massachusetts and helping their families succeed by providing high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family support services. To support our mission, we also advocate on behalf of young children, train educators and human services providers, and provide research on the impact of early education on homeless children. 

Summary of Position 

The Assistant Director (AD) of Family Partnerships is responsible for the daily operations of the Family Partnerships Program (FPP), including direct supervision of the Family Coaching Specialists.  The AD of Family Partnerships works closely with the Executive Director of Family Partnerships and the FPP Operations Manager to ensure the provision of high-quality supportive coaching services to Horizons parents and families. 

Responsibilities 

Leadership and Program Management 

• Provides ongoing supervision, consultation, and coaching to all Family Coaching Specialists 

• Identifies Coaches’ strengths and areas for further professional development 

• Works with Coaches to develop and monitor individualized professional development goals in the PayCom system 

• Conducts annual performance reviews and addresses performance concerns in a timely manner 

• In collaboration with ED of FPP, establish and implement department onboarding process and manual  

• In conjunction with the ED of Family Partnerships, designs and implements training to enhance the Coaches’ mobility coaching skills 

• Leads weekly FPP team meetings 

• Partners with Early Education leadership team to ensure effective implementation of Horizons’ two-generation approach 

• Attends weekly Center Program Team meetings 

• Reviews and approves time-off requests, invoices, and credit card reports 

• Hires, trains, and supervises interns 

Family Support: 

• Under the guidance of the ED of Family Partnerships, leads FPP’s family engagement strategy 

• In conjunction with FPP Operations Manager and ED of Family Partnerships, develops a diverse and well-coordinated set of workshops, groups, and classes for Horizons parents 

• Serves as Staff Advisor to Parent Council and Parent Council Leadership Team 

• Supports Coaches with individual parent meetings as needed (e.g. attendance concerns, program expectations, conflicts, etc.) 

• Provides practical course of action to address parent challenges  

• Oversees communication with families, including writing messages regarding new policies and procedures to be sent by mass text to parents 

Data Management 

• In conjunction with the FPP Operations Manager and Data Analytics Team, monitors data quality and identifies strategies to improve data integrity 

• Reviews pending Mobility Goals to ensure that they meet the SMART criteria and are consistent with the Horizons Progressive Recognition System 

• Shares data back to the FPP team to support ongoing program improvement 

• In collaboration with ED of Family Partnerships and Data Analytics Team, uses data to drive program improvement and craft external messages about program impact
