Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is seeking motivated and talented Associate or Mid-Level Software Engineers to join Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) in Saint Charles, MO

Our team of highly-motivated, customer-focused engineers partner with BDS programs to help develop and maintain a culture of first-time quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). As a member of this team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the process for developing, controlling, and verifying software products is planned and complied with, and effectively improving the quality of our software products – whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background in software development practices, tools, and processes combined with a passion for advocating First Time Quality strategies. Experience with Agile and knowledge of quality standards (e.g. AS9100 / AS9115) is strongly preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are crucial for success. 

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate or Mid-level Software Engineers.

This position may require up to 10% travel.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Actively participates in program activities, from initial proposal and planning to and delivery

  • Coordinates support across SQEs supporting a program, as necessary, to ensure SQE commitments are met

  • Performs process and product audits to verify software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes, plans, and standards

  • Supports program milestone and formal review meetings, occasionally preparing and presenting information

  • Verifies that software testing is done to meet software requirements

  • Performs final reconciliation of software data products

  • Conducts root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and other defect activities

  • Teams with equipment managers of supplier products to monitor and evaluate supplier software development performance

  • Acts as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer, highlighting potential best practices on the team, as well as areas for improvement

  • Supports the identification and analysis of program/project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risk

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 1+ years of classroom or work related experience with Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 1+ years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)

  • 3+ years of software quality engineering experience supporting software with AS9115, DO-178, and/or MIL-STD-882E requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with Software Development Processes

  • Experience with products developed using Agile software development practices

  • Experience with DevSecOps and associated tools

Typical Education/Experience: 

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
