Director Software Engineering

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
• Incorporate innovation and differentiation into Product development by understanding and providing solution options to new and emerging business opportunities that drive a competitive advantage into the Field Services platform portfolio of capabilities
• Lead and collaborate with multiple Senior Managers and Product partners in support of software development teams that achieve business goals through collaboration, effective communication, and successful execution (on time, on quality, and on budget)
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute the long-term vision and strategic direction of the Field Service Platform to satisfy current and future business models
• Identify, prioritize, and execute against opportunities to support and enable engineering teams with availability, performance, efficiency, resiliency, change management, incident response for our Mobile App tech stack
• Drive continuous improvement of the Software Engineering role, Key Performance Indicators, and functional excellence, establishing and measuring OKRs or team goals
• Comfortable managing multiple and sometimes competing priorities including making and communicating decisions effectively
• Effectively coordinate across multiple disciplines with a strong, open, and collaborative work style.
• Embody a customer mindset with the ability to translate business goals into actions.
• Development and review of software development budgets and ensuring they comply with defined departmental goals, guidelines, and objectives
• Lead establishment of new business requirement elaboration processes and software development strategies for the organization
• Lead, hire and grow a high-caliber team of Engineers and Managers; inspire passion in others
• Ability to translate between being strategically minded and tactically focused to ensure team effectively executes critical enterprise deliverables/objectives
• Results-oriented


SKILLS:
Technical skills:
• Minimum of 5-8 years of management/leadership experience in a software development organization required
• Mentoring skills for managers and developers and ability to empower others.
• Ability to create and drive strategic plans, resource planning and management including shifting and creation of resources.
• Creative thinking to approach problems from different perspectives.
• Have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to present and communicate at all levels of an organization including conflict resolution and mentoring.
• Ability to create consensus through leadership attributes and actions.

Desired Skills:
• Past Director or Senior Manager level experience for large teams
• Hands-on solutions architecture experience
• Experience with cloud technology with AWS or other major cloud providers
• Experience with CI/CD, observability
• Experience with development of software platforms and services (e.g., Mobile Apps, Microservices, APIs)
Cloud security knowledge
• Enterprise level experience with workflow and process automation

EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; Master’s degree preferred
