Job Summary

Plays a critical role in project coordination and collaboration between SPMC and Epic host site for projects involving Epic or technologies related to patient care or documentation. Integrates clinical knowledge and experience with computer and information science skills to provide comprehensive support for clinical applications. Serves as a technical expert and resource to optimize technology and related processes to improve patient care and employee/provider experience.

This is a fully on-site position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at our facility. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available for this role.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintains expert-user knowledge of clinical systems and operations, including workflows, procedures and processes, to ensure that clinical systems and modules are deployed to maximum effect. Functions as a liaison between clinical staff, leadership, and business partners/vendors to facilitate clinical system implementations, support, maintenance, and upgrades. Works with caregivers, providers and vendors to improve workflows and to identify and implement customizations that foster more effective healthcare and business operations.

2. Responsible for direct interaction with leadership, providers, operations, and Information Technology including assisting with translating requirements that meet customer needs, regulatory compliance and patient safety and privacy.

3. Responsible for monitoring, triaging, assigning, and resolving end user submitted tickets. Submits and monitors tickets to host site for issues unresolvable onsite.

4. Participates in clinical informatics activities in support of interdisciplinary practice operations, decision-making, education, quality, and departmental maturity.

5. Actively participates in organizational committees as a clinical workflow subject matter expert and caregiver champion.

6. Develop training materials, job aids, and documentation for end users

7. Responsible for creating and maintaining project documentation for work efforts that include Informatics, tracking deliverables and escalating as needed. Collaborate with stakeholders, leadership and project resources to identify project objectives and relevant KPIs.

8. Creates a climate for mutual problem solving of identified issues and problems; coordinates improvement initiatives among users. Develops and maintains appropriate documentation and tools; develops and generates reports as needed.

9. Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; BSN strongly preferred.

Five (5) years of direct patient care experience; experience in both acute and ambulatory care environments is ideal.

One year of experience working with clinical information systems as a functional or subject matter expert required; clinical informatics experience preferred.

Experience developing training content and teaching/training adult learners is preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations

Current and unrestricted Washington State RN license.

Epic certification required within 6 months of hire date.
