The Central Staffing Coordinator under the direction of the Clinical Resource Management leadership team is responsible for workforce resource management in and across clinical patient care units and inpatient settings. The Central Staffing Coordinator develops and executes a strategic staffing plan centered around unit census, acuity, and workforce matrices. Applies expert knowledge to help guide staffing decisions, ensuring that resources are consistently working at the top of their licensure. Collaborates effectively with front-line decision-makers to create and implement safe staffing solutions for patients at Integris Health. The Staffing Coordinator works closely in collaboration with facilities Manager on Call, Patient Logistics Center, and facility House Supervisor to help orchestrate effective delivery of patient care. The Staffing Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Collects census information from patient care areas and records on board sheets prior to the beginning of the oncoming shift * Communicates with nursing unit management, nursing staff, administrative supervisors, and /or staffing manager to evaluate staffing needs based on census and acuity * Continually assesses changes in patient care unit staffing needs and adjusts plan to provide distribution of nursing staff in areas of greatest need * Determines work assignments for float pool caregivers based upon rapidly-changing factors that influence staffing decisions, effectively assigning staff to areas within their designated skill sets to ensure safe care standards are met * Communicates oncoming staffing to patient care areas, including supplemental staff assignments and/or inability to fill vacancies * Collects and enters data daily for reports. * Responds to request for staff coverage, assesses area needs, and coordinates appropriate distribution of staff *Recruits additional staff for open shifts in accordance with organizational safe care standards, policies, and procedures * Monitors the day-to-day fluctuation in staff/census and adjust staff distribution as appropriate. *Ensures that work assignments are communicated to clinical staff in a timely manner* Responsible for meeting budgetary, compliance, and patient safety guidelines * Monitors staff competency compliance * Manages multiple phone lines, sends and responds to text messages * Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment * Reviews information in (Epic –EHR) to evaluate staffing decisions and future staffing needs * Collaborates with Central Bed Planners to guide patient flow. *Interpret information in EHR and communication with Charge Nurses regarding patient acuity*Must be able to de-escalate tense situations, objectively evaluate competing priorities and guide disagreements toward effective and timely fact-based resolution* Responsible for documenting attendance occurrences* Maintain/document scheduling changes (assess timeliness, quality, open shifts) * Mathematical computations to determine staffing ratios.
* Typing 40 wpm preferred * 1 year experience in a hospital clinical setting, clerical experience and data entry experience preferred * Must be able to communicate effectively in English INTEGRIS Mental Health: * This job prefers, if needed, the incumbents to operate a INTEGRIS-owned vehicle OR personal vehicle (non INTEGRIS-owned) and have a current Oklahoma State Driver’s License as well as a driving record which is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
Medical Terminology preferred
Strong preference for scheduling, timekeeping, or payroll experience in a fast-paced environment
Kronos experience preferred
High School Diploma Required
Associate in Healthcare Administration preferred
