A Day in the Life

The Technical Writer has the responsibility to develop and maintain a variety of documents in support of the Software Engineering team. You will take the initiative to identify document requirements, interface with software engineers, software test engineers, and devops engineers to obtain the necessary information, and distill this information into detailed, accurate, professional documentation. You will complete, update, route, and follow through with electronic forms required to release systems documentation.

In addition, you will be responsible for gathering and identifying information and SMEs to support the software sustaining effort. This will include but not be limited to defining scope, impact, and resources required to complete sustaining activity, as well as tracking progress of ongoing sustaining efforts.

You will be asked to present complex concepts clearly and concisely, manage multiple tasks concurrently, adjust priorities frequently, and overcome and communicate obstacles to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Identify requirements and obtain necessary information from various sources
  • Learn and understand the design and behavior of the company’s products
  • Perform the administrative documentation tasks required to establish and track documents in AgileMAP
  • Continuously evaluate business processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement improvements
  • Review and provide feedback to others' documentation
  • All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System
  • Provide status on assigned projects
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Travel requirement: Less than 10%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant Technical writing experience, or advanced degree in lieu of experience

Nice to Have

  • Proficient with AgileMAP
  • Project management experience
  • Prior experience in the medical or scientific software field
  • Experience writing for a global audience
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Continuous learning-focused mindset

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$64,800.00 - $97,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
