Crew Member Lead (Williamsburg, Iowa) 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Crew Member Lead (Williamsburg, Iowa) are:

 

  • Self-motivated, performs with minimal to no supervision;
  • Positively influences workflows and site initiatives for crew members and seasonal employees towards Key Performance Indicator’s;
  • Provides daily direction to crew members and seasonal employees;
  • Communicates work area progress to team members, Seed Technicians, and site leadership;
  • Competent in safety and quality programs; 
  • Trainer for new employees (bilingual) and peers in safety, quality, site operations and equipment;
  • Completes all required audits or inspections timely and reports any issues as needed;
  • Performs high-quality work with minimal to no errors or re-work, safely;                                                                                       
  • Continuous improvement mindset can recognize opportunities for improvement, problem solve current work area issues, and brainstorm/implement solutions;
  • Report safety and quality incidents in a timely manner to supervisors.
  • Operate and train team members on work area equipment, which may include but is not limited to tractors, harvesters, shellers, sprayers, counters, flex fillers, sewing machines, and irrigation equipment, as applicable;                                                                              
  • Proficient in current technologies- Collect data, enter data, and train other team members;
  • Understands work area data.  Can identify and address data issues/discrepancies;
  • Responsible for pedigree system access and data input;
  • Lead or assist in other projects and duties as required or assigned.

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of related experience OR 4+ years of related experience;
  • Valid Iowa Driver’s License and meet company driver criteria;
  • Ability to understand & communicate effectively, both verbally & written;
  • Ability to learn applicable technology, to include (but not limited to) handheld devices and desktop computers;
  • Ability to function both individually and as a member of a team;
  • Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) with ability to meet overtime demands including occasional shift work, weekends, and holidays;
  • Willing and able to work in a variety of areas including the seed processing facility, fields, and/or warehouse environment. Frequent walking and standing are required on flat and uneven surfaces. This can include frequent work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions;
  • Ability to climb ladders and occasionally perform elevated work. Must be able to lift, push, and pull 40 - 50 pounds regularly;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and train teams and/or processes.

 

We are currently offering a $2,500.00 sign-on bonus to any new Crew Member for the Williamsburg, Iowa location.
