Medtronic is a world leader in providing health care products that restore health and extend life.  The Medtronic Diabetes R&D team contributes directly to this mission; we deliver software and firmware for Medtronic’s pump and continuous glucose monitoring devices. 

Our business is growing significantly as the market demands reliable medical devices which look and feel more like consumer devices.  We are looking for a Principal Paralegal

This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.


​MUST HAVE:

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires mastery of a specialty area and full knowledge of industry practices, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience

  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements and minimum 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
     

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Comprehensive understanding of intellectual property practices and procedures

  • May have broad knowledge of project management

  • Extensive experience with U.S. and foreign patent filing and prosecution processes Proficiency in managing docketing systems and ensuring compliance with deadlines (knowledge of Anaqua is a plus)

  • Strong knowledge of invention disclosure processes and systems. Familiarity with trademark filing, prosecution, and maintenance (preferred)

  • Ability to independently manage patent portfolios. Experience in preparation and filing formalities, such as assignments, new application filings, and responses

  • Experience working with outside counsel and foreign agents. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing complex IP portfolios

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • Knowledge of IP-related software tools and systems

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with inventors, attorneys, and other stakeholders. Experience supporting litigation matters across various areas, including gathering discovery materials and managing case files Experience in assisting with trademark specimen collection

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$100,800.00 - $151,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
