REPORTS TO: Program Coordinator

COMPENSATION: $25.00 per hour

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Beginning with the 2026-2027 Learning Beyond the Bell / 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Program and continuing through the summer component of the grant program.

School-Year Schedule: Monday through Thursday, up to three (3) hours per day after school.

Summer Schedule: Dates and hours will be determined based on student enrollment, funding availability, and program needs.
 

NOTE: Multiple positions may be filled based on student enrollment and program needs. Positions are awarded on an as-needed basis.
 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Program is designed to support and extend learning opportunities for K-12 students beyond the regular instructional day and school year. The program provides academic enrichment opportunities to help students meet state and local standards in core academic subjects, offers enrichment activities that complement the regular instructional program, and supports parents and families through literacy and other educational services.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Summer Program Teacher provides academic support, enrichment opportunities, and instruction to participating students. The teacher works collaboratively with program staff to create engaging learning experiences that promote student growth, attendance, and participation while supporting the goals and objectives of the Learning Beyond the Bell Program.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Education or a related field.
  • Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate.
  • Meet minimum standards for certification as established by West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5202 and the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-4-7a.
  • Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-10 and applicable state requirements.
  • Experience working with middle or secondary students preferred.

     

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction and Student Support

  • Work collaboratively and flexibly with other 21st CCLC educators to support program goals and student success.
  • Provide academic instruction and enrichment activities aligned with student needs and program objectives.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and learning experiences.
  • Establish instructional goals and utilize appropriate instructional strategies and resources.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all participants.
  • Provide individualized support to students by identifying learning needs and adapting instruction accordingly.
  • Monitor student academic, behavioral, and attendance progress using available data.
  • Communicate student progress and participation information with appropriate school personnel and families.
     

Program Operations

  • Meet students at designated times and locations.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records and program documentation.
  • Coordinate activities, special events, and enrichment opportunities with the Site Coordinator and program staff.
  • Assist with snack distribution and other program activities as assigned.
  • Uphold all school, district, and program policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment at all times.
     

Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with parents, families, colleagues, and school personnel to support student success.
  • Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior and participation.
  • Attend required meetings, professional development sessions, and training opportunities.
