The SCM Warehouse Shipping Lead is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse shipping operations, ensuring efficient management of inventory, personnel, and workflow to meet operational objectives. This role will coordinate activities, ensure compliance with safety standards, and maintain high-quality performance levels. The SCM Warehouse Shipping Lead will also play a key role in supporting the inventory team, optimizing processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
This is an onshore US-based position within the SCM Warehouse in Morgan City, LA. Work schedules are determined by the manager based on operational needs.
ESSENTIAL
Maintain a safe workplace for all personnel and materials in your charge.
Oversee the daily operations of the shipping warehouse team, ensuring timely and accurate shipments.
Ensure documentation and materials necessary to perform the work in assigned work center are available and maintained.
Communicate with assigned work center lead(s).
Maintain clear and effective communication with cross-functional teams.
Provide feedback on the status of in process orders to ensure on time completion of schedule milestones.
Review schedules and identify risks / problem issues. Develop work around, contingencies, and expedite materials / information as required.
Ensure documentation and materials necessary to perform the work in shipping area are available and maintained.
Mandatory on-call rotation.
Perform Night / Weekend / Holiday duty as required by schedule.
Customer Service Focus.
Practice Smart Flow and equipment movement order concepts to improve processes. Propose possible solutions to problems identified.
Communicate across business functions; Manufacturing, Inventory, Purchasing, Technical, Configuration Management.
Learn and continuously use 6 S methodologies to drive improvements to the workplace.
Performs additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support organizational objectives.
Conduct regular safety inspections, report hazards, and implement preventive measures.
REQUIRED
Four (4) to six (6) years’ experience in an inventory environment; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
DESIRED
Prefers a minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree.
Five (5) years related experience in Shipping & Receiving; or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to lead and motivate a team and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to operate a forklift
Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written form.
Ability to analyze situations accurately, utilizing a variety of analytical techniques in order to make well informed decisions.
Ensures that others involved in a project or effort are kept informed about developments and plans.
Ensures that regular consistent communication takes place within area of responsibility.
Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively with business partners.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and has the willingness to undertake new & challenging assignments.
Ability to resolve problems quickly using sound judgement, reasoning skills and can determine when issues need to be escalated in order to obtain resoultion.
Highly organized, process-driven and has strong follow-up skills.
Working Conditions
- Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
- Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
- When outdoors, humidity is frequently above 90%
- Noise is over 85 decibels.
- Light is intense/glare.
- Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
- Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
