Project: Better Magnesium Batteries for a more Sustainable Society (BeMaB)

BeMaB project is an ambitious project to develop high-performance rechargeable magnesium batteries (RMB). The main focus is designing new materials as cathodes for magnesium-ion batteries (MIB), providing high voltage, high specific capacity, and good cycling stability with selected suitable electrolytes.

The project is granted by MICINN (Program Transición Ecológica y Transición Digital). The Project partners are Universidad CEU San Pablo (Madrid), Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Madrid), and University of Bialystok.

We are looking up to one Pre/Postdoctoral researcher with a M.Sc./Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science or Materials Engineering. The selected candidate will be integrated in the ESYMAT group at Universidad CEU San Pablo (https://www.uspceu.com/en/research/research-groups/id/esymat) being also involved in different tasks between all partners.

The researcher will undertake research activities for 18 months that will include:

-Synthesis: Ceramic, precipitation, sol-gel, mechano-chemical, hydrothermal.

-Structural characterization: X-ray diffraction (including synchrotron diffraction), neutron diffraction and electron diffraction.

-Morphological and spectroscopic characterization (SEM, BET, XPS)

-Electrical and electrochemical characterization of cathode materials: discharge-charge cycling, C-rate, CVs, PEIS impedance spectroscopy.

The contract will be performed with Fundación Universitaria San Pablo CEU according to the standard salary for pre/postdoctoral researchers. Starting date as soon as possible.
