Control Risks is looking for a Senior Business Security Manager to support a Fortune 500 client of ours as they look to improve their security stature in the US. The Senior Business Security manager will support and advise a wide range of internal stakeholders for all security matters from security awareness briefings to special events security requirements, risk assessments and security plans. This requires an ability to develop internal and external stakeholder networks at local, state, and federal levels. The US Senior Business Security Manager will also take a lead role in the development and use of emerging security technologies in the USA in close liaison to the Strategy and Assurance team and acting as ambassador for the ‘Deployment of Enterprise Security Solutions’. The incumbent needs to be an analytical thinker, possess a good understanding of business models and commercial propositions, and will play a vital role being integral to the successful onboarding of new energies company acquisitions into the client and will engage and influence at senior business levels.
This position will be a temporary 3-month position.
This role requires the candidate to be based in Los Angeles
- Lead security engagement to new client company acquisitions for the Renewables and Energy Solutions businesses
- Advise and ensure a secure and smart transition for new companies’ compliance to the client's Group Security Standards and security components of their Performance Framework
- Represent the client and industry security forums to influence regulation to energy businesses and provide advocacy to ensure future regulations impact business positively.
- Influence to ensure senior business leaders understand the key security threats to the client's businesses through regular engagements; leverage internal tools and regular engagements with credible external sources (Industry and government agencies)
- Conduct security risk assessments for all business sites, facilities, activities, unique events, and information.
- Develop pragmatic risk-based security plans and provide assurance of well executed delivery.
- Identify and establish key stakeholder mapping, communication plans and regular engagements to ensure CS support and initiatives are understood and implemented successfully.
- Consult with Real Estate and business security managers or focal points to ensure security risks are managed to ‘As Low as Reasonably Practicable’ (ALARP) and that fit-for-purpose security policies, plans and procedures are implemented.
- Work closely with the Business HSSE Managers, Business Opportunities Managers, Project Managers and Site Management to provide assurance that there is a consistent, common, and adequate approach to security governance.
- Provide influence and mentoring to 20+ business security managers and focal points on security best practices and standardization employing client security templates and ways of working.
- Advocate for wide adoption and deliver the client's security platform demonstrating a proficient level of understanding to how enterprise and peripheral security technologies provide efficient mitigation of identified risks.
- Manage security contracts and vendors employing Contracts & Procurement strategy and standards to deliver high quality performance.
- Ensure client businesses are prepared and protected from emerging security risks; establish a security awareness communication program for salient themes and initiatives delivering a pervasive understanding of personal and business risk (e.g., Travel, Insider, Cyber)
- Provide management and response to any security related incident in support to the CSM including emergency response and crisis management at business and country levels.
- Ensure that security activities comply with country laws and regulations, (e.g., NERC, MTSA, CFATS, CTPAT, Pipeline).
- Function as the Security Technical Authority to provide security inputs and planning to capital projects and non-operated JVs on request.
- Provide regular security assurance reporting and participate in client audits globally.
Requirements
Must have:
- Ability to construct and maintain a credible external security and intelligence network across industries and government agencies.
- High-caliber security professional with a proficient level of understanding of security threats, current and emerging risks in the USA.
- An understanding of the global geopolitical space and its effect on security in the USA
- In-depth understanding and experience with physical security principles and their impact on the mitigation of threats against people, assets, information, and reputation
