POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Bloomfield College of Montclair State University seeks a dynamic and innovative scholar to join our interdisciplinary Humanities area as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to our mission of fostering a rich and inclusive academic environment that prioritizes the intellectual, cultural, and social development of students. This position is an exciting opportunity to advance research and teaching on issues central to the African diaspora, Africa, and related fields within the context of a PBI.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach undergraduate courses in Africana Studies, including introductory and advanced courses related to the candidate's area of specialization.

• Develop and revise curriculum to reflect the interdisciplinary nature of Africana Studies and its relevance to contemporary issues.

• Develop community-based programming to engage students in experiential learning.

• Maintain an active research agenda, including publication in peer-reviewed journals and other scholarly outlets.

• Mentor and advise students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, in their academic and professional development.

• Engage in service activities within the department, the institution, and the wider academic community.

• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to promote Africana Studies and its contributions to the broader curriculum and institutional mission
