Job Overview
The Regional Operations Manager, Hard Rock is responsible for developing and leading aftermarket functions for Montana including the field service, rebuild and repair and parts strategy to achieve targeted results for the hard rock business. This includes leading a team in the development, implementation and maintenance of standard policies, processes, and procedures to ensure customer quality and expectations are met. The position will lead customer service strategies for the aftermarket business to ensure targeted revenue and profit are being planned and achieved. The position will also act as a Site Manager for the Billings, MT branch to ensure proper site EHS requirements, maintenance, setup and planning for future services expansion.
Key Job Responsibilities
Manage the Montana Branch and District in a safe and productive manner – instill a Safety First culture which includes developing and administering safety programs (i.e. safe work procedures, policies and initiatives, Safe Start programs and Stop Work Authority, Quality Safety Interactions etc.).
Develop, implement, and manage a strategic business plan for the Branch which stretches business performances and aligns with the Komatsu Group Companies strategy.
Managing the financial performance of the operating area. This includes maximizing return on working capital, return on sales, service department absorption & expenses and overall financial performance.
Prepare and manage annual profit & loss budgets/outlooks for sales and expenses; achieve planned financial targets of for total sales and achieve operating profit objectives.
Develop and maintain close working relationships with customers to understand how to partner Komatsu services and technology with customer needs.
Provide leadership and mentoring to maximize the performance and development of the local team which includes:
- Promoting employee development through continuous education and training.
- Establish expectations and evaluate employee performance.
- Provide guidance and coaching to direct reports and associated team.
Work with Komatsu Equipment Management, Hard Rock Product Group, Corporate finance and other departments to ensure compliance with Komatsu’s Worldwide Code of Business Conduct.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Technical (Engineering/Trades) with a minimum of five (5) years service and sales experience with Mining OE and parts and minimum of three (3) years leadership experience
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate others to achieve outcomes
Strong hard rock product knowledge and expertise preferred
Strong knowledge of the mining industry and mining operations through direct experience servicing mining customers.
Strong drive for customer satisfaction
Strong project management, planning and organization skills
Strong negotiation skills to drive sales and contracts
Excellent analysis and problem-solving ability
High energy with a sense of urgency in job responsibility
Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team
Self-motivated with demonstrated initiative and high energy
Ability to develop knowledge of customer business processes
Excellent customer relations and active listening skills
Ability to interpret financial statements
Computer Literacy including MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to speak with production workers to customer management
Ability to travel frequently, North America
Ability to work underground.
