About the role

Description

The New York University Pain Research Center seeks a senior research scientist with a background in neuroscience and electrophysiology. Research projects will investigate the mechanisms by which sensory neurons and Schwann cells contribute to pain. Studies will use electrophysiology, cell culture, animal models, genetically engineered mice, rodent behavior, imaging, molecular biology, calcium fluorimetry, and analysis of tissue specimens. Applicants need not have experience in all areas, as expertise is available in our group. Proficiency in electrophysiology of sensory neurons is required.

The position offers competitive salary and provides opportunities for career development and exposure to a rich scientific environment at NYU and the New York City area. Positions open immediately and for up to five years.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range this position is $100,000 - $120,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

 

Qualifications

Applicants should have a PhD, MD or DDS degree and experience in cancer, neuroscience or related disciplines. Candidates should have the ability and motivation to work independently and to manage their research projects. Individuals are encouraged to apply, who have outstanding publication records from their graduate or postgraduate work and a passion to better understand cancer-neural interactions that can have potential to translate into treatments to stop cancer and alleviate cancer pain.
