Job purpose

The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos and fan drives for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides quality support to the assigned supply base operations to ensure the integrity of components and products produced by those suppliers and aggressively drives quality improvement efforts in assigned area with goal of achieving “zero defects” performance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Oversees product quality for supplied components.
  • Reviews and approves supplier PPAP submissions.
  • Utilizes processes and guidelines published by the AIAG. (Automotive Industry Action Group)
  • Performs audits on-site at suppliers. (We Are Ready Audits and/or VDA 6.3)
  • Supports process improvement and problem-solving to improve product quality.
  • Addresses nonconformances with 8D methodology including containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions with analytical, data driven decision-making.
  • Provides guidance to technicians for containment activities and other support functions.
  • Manages the qualification and approval of product and process changes in the supply base.
  • Supports new product introduction through the application of APQP.
  • Supports the supplier management team (SMT) including purchasing and material planning.
  • Supports in initial supplier assessment with focus on quality for sourcing recommendations.
  • Improves process capability through statistical analysis techniques and training of suppliers.
  • Tracks quality performance metrics such as PPM and effectiveness/timeliness of 8D’s
  • Functions as an effective and collaborative team player in a flexible organization.
  • Understands and adheres to current health, safety, environmental, & code of conduct policies.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree, engineering preferred
  • Requires minimum 10+ years of manufacturing engineering / quality experience
  • Requires AIAG core tools proficiency
  • Requires demonstrated knowledge of APQP, inspection equipment and techniques, root cause analysis, capability studies, statistical distributions, machining and assembly processes, and GD&T
  • Requires proficiency with Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Requires experience in Minitab for statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of TS16949 & IATF 16949 preferred
  • ASQ certification preferred
  • VDA 6.3 trained preferred, certification a plus
  • IATF16949 auditor training preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
