The Role:

We are looking for our next Customer Technical Service (CTS) Application Scientist Intern within our Core Ingredient CTS team for summer 2025. The CTS Application Scientist Intern will be responsible for various projects, which may include working with a cross-functional team (R&D, Technical Developers and Marketing) to determine and qualify new and existing Food Applications for Roquette’s plant-based ingredient portfolio, such as proteins, fibers, polyols etc.

This position is located onsite in Geneva, IL

What You’ll Do:

• Support the creation of new or existing applications highlighting the unique functionalities of our ingredients, aligned with business priorities
• Determine the functionalities and impact related to our plant-based ingredients using chemical & physical analysis, and Sensory testing
• Communicate with all levels of Roquette team members, as well as the plant based and scientific communities
• Specific projects will be assigned based on the priorities above and the candidate's professional and developmental interests.
• Collaborate with peers to deliver project results as requested in a timely manner
• Ability to work independently, learn new tasks, solve problems, show strong self-motivation and initiative
• Present final report and presentation on assigned project completed during the intern period to Roquette’s technical community

What You’ll Need:

      Education:          

• Junior level students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an applicable field, such as Food Science, Food Technology, Food Chemistry and/or Food Engineering OR are currently enrolled as a graduate student pursuing a master’s or PhD in Food Science.

      Experience:

• A significant interest in food science, food technology, food chemistry and/ or food engineering
• Candidates should have basic laboratory skills and laboratory experience and good lab practices
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Results-based, goal-focused mindset with a natural curiosity, demonstrated by extracurricular involvement in clubs or community
• Leadership and/or work experience to supplement strong student achievement
• Prior internship experience in a related field is a plus

Work Environment

• This role spends approximately 50% of the time in an office environment and 50% of the time in the lab environment
• Must have the ability frequently lift, carry and/or push up to 50 lbs. as well as stand or sit for extended periods of time
• The intern will be working in an environment that handles and processes all major food allergens, and must have the ability to taste and smell food product

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• This is an hourly position, M-F. Interns are not to exceed 40 hours per week.
