Job Description

The Equipment Maintenance Senior Supervisor will lead the wafer fabrication equipment maintenance team to ensure maximum tool uptime, reliability, and safety in support of production goals. This role is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance programs, resource allocation, staff development, and continuous improvement of equipment performance within the fab.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of equipment maintenance technicians on assigned shift, and help other shifts as needed or assigned.
  • Oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs for wafer fab tools (e.g., lithography, etch, deposition, CMP, wet/dry cleans, metrology).
  • Monitor and improve key metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) of recurring equipment issues and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with process engineering, production, and facilities teams to support yield and throughput goals.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, vendor support contracts, and maintenance budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety standards, as well as cleanroom protocols.
  • Lead equipment installation, qualification, and commissioning projects.
  • Document and report maintenance activities, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives.
  • Present tool status in requested meetings with Problem, Root Cause, what actions have taken place so far, what actions are next, and ETA or CP.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Escalate line down, and/or critical tool down situations with Escalation PP and associated guidelines.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • 7+ years of semiconductor wafer fab equipment maintenance experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor toolsets (This Film etch, lithography, CVD/PVD, CMP, wet benches, metrology, etc.).
  • Proven track record of managing maintenance teams in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with experience in root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with MESA, RV, Smartsheets.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team development skills.
  • Assignment completed on time
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and vendor relationships.
  • Work assigned AWS Schedule, and any addition time required to complete additional tasks that are assigned
  • Work in a cleanroom minimum of 6 hours per day.
  • Excel, PowerPoint, and Word knowledge (Intermediate level, minimum) 

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with 200mm/300mm wafer fabrication equipment.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with FDC (Fault Detection & Classification) systems.
  • Prior involvement in new tool installation and ramp projects.
  • OSHA/EHS certifications and strong understanding of cleanroom safety protocols.
