Position Highlights:
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, standard business hours. Schedule may vary based on operational needs.
- Location: This is a regional role that will oversee the education of Surgical Services nursing staff across multiple outpatient surgery clinics in the Wake region.

Job Summary: The Clinical Educator coordinates and conducts education for nursing staff, which will enhance quality and safe patient care. Responsible for ensuring nursing staff within the service line units are educated to assess and identify patient care needs for assigned patients. Education is provided based on unit/patient needs and includes but is not limited to service line academies, skill-based competency, equipment use expertise, and/or clinical assessment competency. Collaborates with Director of Clinical and Life Support Education, Manager of Clinical and Life Support Education, Directors of Nursing, and Nurse managers to provide learning sessions to enhance staff knowledge and competency in the management of cost effective/clinically effective complex patient and family centered care.
What You'll Need:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required;BSN required, five years clinical experience in area of interest required.
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. BCLS required. National certification in specialty preferred, encouraged to obtain within one year of hire.
What You'll Do:
- Teach and demonstrate proficiency in patient physical assessment skills, patient care and nursing skills (i.e. mobility, respiratory care, nutrition, pain management, oral care, preventing infection, lift equipment, vital sign monitoring equipment).
- Reinforce policies and procedures, protocols and guidelines with nursing staff.
- Coordinate nursing centered rounds and bedside reporting in conjunction with the Nurse Manager/Administrator with an ability to phase in multidisciplinary rounds'
- Provide service line specific unit educational programs in collaboration with preceptors and Nursing Practice Development Specialist (NPDS) in class settings, informal on-site settings. Monitor compliance and attendance rosters.
- Ensure the quality of professional services by demonstrating and maintaining competency through updating knowledge and skills and continuing professional growth.
- Communicate in an effective, positive, and professional manner role modeling behaviors associated with Wake Forest Baptist Health Behavioral expectations.
- Collaborate with site based Administrator, nurse manager, assistant nurse manager, preceptors and NPDS to design, implement, and evaluate the nursing unit's orientation and annual needs assessment education plan.
- Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility including assisting in teaching interpretation of and developing strategies to address nurse sensitive indicators and performance improvement.
