The Hot Section Engineering Mechanical Design team is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in turbomachinery exhaust systems; nozzle experience is preferred. The Engineer will collaborate with various disciplines within the Integrated Product Team (IPT), including project management, structures, durability, aero-thermal, and product definition. The Engineer will also lead interactions with other Hot Section Engineering IPTs.
What You Will Do:
- Resolve complex mechanical engineering problems, ensuring engineering excellence and balanced system solutions.
- Oversee and optimize the use of outsourcing through technical review and oversight.
- Build and maintain trust with customers by delivering robust technical solutions.
- Collaborate with Customer Technical Support (CTS) team to address customer queries, review hardware, update maintenance manuals, and resolve field event root cause analyses.
- Support Operations and Engineering Support Teams to address production issues and facilitate timely engine delivery.
- Travel up to 10%.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent degree with 2 years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
- 2 years of experience with hardware, blueprints, dimensions & tolerances, and/or manufacturing methods including experience with GD&T.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Master of Science degree in Engineering with Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
- Design, development, manufacture, testing, and maintenance of jet engine compressors or turbines.
- Comprehensive experience with exhaust systems.
- Skilled in Teamcenter, Unigraphics NX, ANSYS, and classical analysis methods.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with a keen eye for detail and adherence to deadlines; Strong verbal and written communication skills, complemented by a proven track record in collaboration, innovation, and initiative.

Department/Segment Overview: Hot Section Engineering (HSE) is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation, and in-service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units. Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.
