Position Summary:
The Assistant Professor at Kilgore College is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, engaging students in the learning process, and supporting the mission and values of the college. The Associate Professor demonstrates a commitment to teaching excellence, curriculum development, and continuous professional growth. This role also involves participating in departmental activities, student advising, and community engagement.
Position responsibilities:
Teaching and Instruction:
- Teach a variety of courses including foundational nursing topics and nursing health assessment.
- Participates in planning, implementing and evaluating the teaching-learning process in the classroom, Simulation Lab, Skills Lab or clinical setting.
- Maintains accurate and complete course records as required by Kilgore College.
- Utilize innovative teaching methods, including online, hybrid, and in-person formats, to enhance student learning.
- Assess student learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback to foster student growth and achievement.
Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with department faculty to review, update, and develop course content and materials.
- Participate in curriculum design to ensure alignment with industry standards and academic requirements.
Student Advising and Support:
- Provide academic advising to students within the Health Sciences program.
- Mentor students and support their academic and career goals.
- Facilitate student access to college resources and support services.
Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field and enhance instructional skills.
- Participate in college-wide initiatives, workshops, and conferences.
Service and Engagement:
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other college governance activities.
- Contribute to community engagement and outreach efforts that align with the college’s mission.
- Maintain public relations with assigned clinical agencies to include assessing the adequacy of available clinical learning experiences.
- Support student organizations and extracurricular activities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Position Requirements:
- Hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas,
- Master’s or doctorate degree in nursing
- Minimum of 3 years associated work experience,
- Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise and safety in subject area of teaching responsibility.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
