Overview
This position will be focused on 2D material-based technologies, specifically involving the development and application of neuromorphic devices. The successful candidate will work on chemical vapor deposition (CVD) growth, material transfer, and device fabrication using 2D materials. The role will require expertise in clean-room fabrication and in the characterisation of nanomaterials. The candidate will also be involved in designing and realising devices with customised configurations, aiming to advance the state-of-the-art in neuromorphic technology through innovative research and development.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will:
- Develop 2D materials using chemical vapor deposition and other advanced techniques;
- Characterise and optimise materials to meet the requirements of selected applications:
- Fabricate and test electronic devices using photolithography and other relevant methods;
- Design and create neuromorphic devices with customised configurations;
- Participate in innovative research activities related to 2D materials production and application;
- Analyse current literature and contribute to writing reports and publications.
Mandatory Qualifications
Education
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or related areas.
Experience
- Postdoctoral or industrial experience in nanotechnology, 2D materials, CVD, and related fields;
- Active participation in peer-reviewed papers, conferences, and workshops in relevant fields;
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques and equipment;
- Proficiency in instrument installation and operation;
- Proficiency in electronic device fabrication;
- Knowledge in nanomaterial characterisation techniques such as electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopies, X-ray photoelectron and Raman spectroscopies;
- Familiarity with emerging technological trends;
- Expertise in selected areas (including graphene, 2D materials, photolithography, clean room fabrication, neuromorphic technology) is highly desirable.
Other Skills
- Ability to design and execute experiments, analyse data, and interpret results;
- Experience in managing research projects, including planning, budgeting, and reporting;
- Ability to mentor and supervise junior researchers, students, or technicians.
