Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Advanced degree Master’s degree in higher education, student development, or related field.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of full-time, professional experience with increasing responsibility in educational programming or student services.
  • Experience with supervising student staff, student training, professional training
Skills:
  • Ability to supervise, train, support, and evaluate student employees.
  • Ability to develop student understanding of learning strategies and academic success content.
  • Experience supporting, and being a member of a large team (adjunct instructors, student leaders).
  • Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Values and supports differences in others; ability to work with diverse populations including students with disabilities and/or first-generation students.  
  • Effective interpersonal, written, electronic, communication skills and presentation, teaching, and coaching skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural audiences.
  • Ability to listen, analyze, and problem-solve.
  • General understanding of the developmental needs of college students.  
  • Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive, and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately
  • Ability to exercise a high level of independent judgment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policy. Strong time management and organization skills. Ability to balance and adapt to interruptions, and multiple, changing, and varied tasks.
  • Demonstrates innovation, creativity, and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of existing, and comfort in learning new, university-supported technologies and software (CampusGroups, Slack, advanced Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, note-keeping applications, and ability to navigate the student database).
  • Willingness to engage in learning opportunities regarding Deaf Culture and conversational American Sign Language (ASL).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in planning and records management.
  • General knowledge of assessment practices and experience utilizing assessment data to inform practice.
  • Knowledge of Deaf culture preferred.
