The Business Cards and Payments organization is on a mission to change banking for good by paving the way for businesses to do more business. We are seeking a motivated professional for a Principal Financial Analyst position on the Business Cards and Payments Finance team supporting the Marketing and Field Strategy tower. This analyst will work with senior-level business partners to influence strategic decisions around how to optimize marketing investments, conduct monthly financial reviews and forecast updates, in addition to projects the business is currently focused on such as long term strategy, NPV calculations, product level profitability etc.
You will be asked to challenge our current well-managed processes to be more proactive, effective and efficient, particularly as BCP aims for the top of the market through pay in full, no preset spending limit (NPSL) products. As a strategic partner to BC&P leadership, you will have direct input into high visibility areas including product launches and targeted acquisition initiatives, inclusive of the business and financial value that each drives. There will also be opportunities for this analyst to engage with other parts of the BCP team as needs arise.
This role requires strong communication, problem solving, strategic thinking, and influencing skills in order to effectively:
Articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights
Partner with business leadership to assess the financial implications of strategic growth initiatives
Develop presentations to communicate business and analysis results to senior leadership audiences
Responsibilities:
Develop the Annual Budget, Monthly Financial Forecast and the Long-Term Financial Plan
Develop financial models and analyses to support growth of the business and strategic initiatives
Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including areas of revenue, expenses and capital expenditures
Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance
Analyze complex financial information and reports to support accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual Reporting and Analysis
Identify industry trends and insights pertaining to competitor’s strategies and/or relative financial performance (e.g. peer benchmarking)
Perform ad hoc analysis using data retrievals from internal financial systems and external market databases and package insights into clear and concise presentations
Work closely with the business leads to help identify areas and processes for driving efficiencies
Implement and work with Business Intelligence Tools and Dashboard reports
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative major (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering) or military experience
Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Accounting, Finance, or Economics
Certified Treasury Professional or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or CFM
At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis and financial modeling
Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
At least 3 years of experience using SQL, Python, or a combination
At least 3 years of experience in financial services, banking or technology industries
At least 3 years of experience partnering with senior leaders and internal stakeholders

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
