About Hy-Vee

The Role and Why It’s Important
As Senior Manager, AV & Videography Services at Hy-Vee, you lead the day-to-day operations of the AV and video production function at the Ron Pearson Center, supporting both internal Hy-Vee events and external client events. You bring deep technical expertise in both live AV systems and video production, and you take pride in getting the details right — from a flawless sound check to a polished final edit. You coordinate a small team and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external clients alike. If you’re someone who takes ownership of your work, enjoys mentoring others, and finds satisfaction in a production that runs without a hitch, you’ll thrive in this role.
What You’ll Do
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot full AV systems for corporate meetings, conferences, and live events, including audio, projection, LED lighting, and broadcast feeds.
Serve as the lead technician on high-visibility internal and external events, including off-site productions.
Configure and operate video switching systems for live production and streaming.
Support hybrid events by integrating solutions for both in-person and remote audiences via platforms such as Zoom, Teams, or WebEx.
Operate professional cinema and camera systems across a range of internal and contracted external events, including executive meetings, galas, and client productions.
Lead all aspects of on-location and studio shoots — from pre-production planning through post-production delivery.
Manage lighting setups to ensure broadcast-quality results in varied environments.
Direct and coach on-camera talent, including executives and non-professional speakers, to achieve the best possible performance.
Manage multi-camera productions and coordinate camera operators as needed and mentor AV staff and freelance crew on technical standards, best practices, and company workflows.
Edit and deliver polished video content, including color grading, audio mixing, motion graphics, and captions.
Maintain organized media libraries and archiving workflows to ensure assets are accessible and properly backed up.
Partner with internal stakeholders, including executives and their assistants, to ensure a seamless presentation experience, including pre-event tech checks, run-of-show coordination, and on-site support.
Serve as the primary AV point of contact for contracted external clients, coordinating event requirements, communicating expectations, and delivering a professional, client-ready experience.
Collaborate with corporate teams to align video deliverables with brand standards and timelines.
Manage equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, and procurement recommendations for cameras, lenses, audio gear, and AV hardware.
Develop and document standard operating procedures for recurring production types.
Evaluate and recommend emerging technology solutions to keep the department current.
Maintain confidentiality with all company and client information.
Your Skills
Commitment to the Hy-Vee mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with both internal stakeholders and external clients.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to and interact with a wide range of people — from internal employees and executives to external clients — in a friendly, professional manner.
Expert-level proficiency with professional camera systems, video switchers, audio consoles, and broadcast AV equipment.
Solid understanding of signal flow, audio/video routing, and broadcast standards.
Experience managing or coordinating a small team, including staff and freelance crew.
