Audio Production Adjunct Faculty

The Vermont State University Music and Business Program (MBI) on the Lyndon campus, within the Department of Music, Theater, Dance & Technology, is seeking an accomplished audio engineer with strong teaching abilities to teach MBI 2170 Introduction to Audio Engineering starting in the Spring 2026 semester.
The MBI audio production instructor provides a course for new students in the Audio Production concentration. In addition to developing skills in the MBI recording studio, the instructor is expected to introduce students to multi-track mixing, microphone technique, and other professional skills. Classes are 75 minutes in length, held throughout the semester, and open to MBI Audio Production students.

Key responsibilities:
• Provide two weekly classes to Audio Production students, in accordance with the Music Business and Industry program guidelines and expectations.
• Teach new audio students recording studio signal flow as well as microphone placement and technique.
• Teach Pro Tools software in conjunction with recording and mixing in a recording studio.
• Maintain and manage recording studio equipment and schedule.
Job qualifications:
• Active audio engineer with expertise in a variety of musical styles and audio post-production.
• Strong knowledge of recording console signal flow and Pro Tools.
• College-level teaching experience preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience teaching music or audio production preferred.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or better in Audio Production, Music, or Science.
Applicants with substantial professional experience will be considered.
Salary:
Based on credits previously taught per VSC-VSCPTF Bargaining Unit Agreement.
