Job Description  

Summary/objective

The primary purpose of this position is to provide financial support to our clients through bookkeeping and accounting.  This position will train with and learn from our Client Advisory Services team to gain technical excellence and deliver top client service.

  • Creates an excellent client experience.
  • Performs duties as needed in projects and as assigned by supervisors.
  • Accepts responsibility for accuracy of data entry, accumulation, and maintenance in all aspects of what we do as an accounting and consulting firm.
  • Learns through their Performance Advisor the elements of project management, including delegation and the ability to properly manage workload.

Specific duties may include:

  • Verifying and/or entering accounting transactions in an accounting system ensuring proper coding, compiling the financial statements, and maintaining all relevant documentation and work papers.
  • Reconciling bank statements and analyzing general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Preparing various business-related tax returns and forms such as sales tax, personal property schedules, workers compensation audits, corporate annual reports, 1099s, and business license tax.
  • Exceeding expectations by becoming familiar with client’s business processes to ensure we anticipate and think through our deliverables.
  • Performing other accounting and consulting duties as needed in projects as assigned by client relationship managers.

 Work environment

 Work to be performed in HORNE office setting.

Physical demands 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Travel required

Minimal travel.

Required education and experience  

  • On track to receive a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in accounting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities with excellent time management skills
  • Enjoyment in working independently with clear deadlines and deliverables
  • Team player attitude with proven abilities to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
