The Opportunity:

Intermediate level position; monitor the production process system to ensure proper operation. Inspect, check and document process production activities. Perform container preparation, bulk and non-bulk filling, shipping and receiving activities and other production and facility capacities as assigned. Ensure safety, quality of workmanship, efficiency and timeliness when performing the assigned work.

Job Summary

Avantor is a trusted supplier to mining and assay laboratories worldwide. As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for Senior Production Operators to join our team in Sparks, Nevada. In this role, you’ll help produce and package cupels—small, porous containers used to separate precious metals like gold and silver from base metals. What you’ll be doing:

  • Set up, operate, and clean production equipment
  • Maintain a spare parts and inventory; conduct regular inventory checks to ensure optimal stock levels
  • Inspect equipment and assets, and report on their condition
  • Ensure equipment is maintained to meet production schedules
  • Participate in contractor selection and supervises their work
  • Support the implementation of the Preventive Maintenance Program
  • Package finished goods and maintain accurate production records
  • Monitor production processes and ensure proper operation
  • Prepare containers and assist with bulk and non-bulk filling, shipping, and receiving
  • Coordinate workflow in and out of the production room
  • Support operators with production-related questions and escalate issues to the supervisor
  • Meet production goals for quality and efficiency
  • Assist with inventory counts and general site maintenance
  • Report equipment issues, material defects, or safety concerns
  • Follow safety procedures and keep work area clean and organized
  • Support other tasks as needed

What we’re looking for:

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to use hand and power tools for equipment assembly and installation
  • Knowledge of mechanics, industrial electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics, and instrumentation is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and train others; adaptable and calm under pressure
  • Team-oriented with a strong focus on safety and quality
  • Ability to follow instructions and shift priorities quickly
  • Understanding of quality control principles is a plus
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Reliable, punctual, and positive attitude
  • Commitment to personal development and continuous learning.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Forklift certification is a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Active, hands-on role in a busy production area
  • Exposed to noise, dust, non-hazardous chemicals, and moving machinery
  • Safety gear provided
  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting (up to 25 lbs)
  • Repetitive hand and foot movements
  • Good vision required for close-up and peripheral tasks
