The following position is to join our Research Center Team:

The Integrated Electric Systems team at RTX Research Center invites individuals with electrical systems, control systems, power electronics and electromagnetics expertise with strong hardware prototyping skills to apply for the internship position.  We are seeking an Intern to join our cohesive team of research engineers and technicians who are focused on developing innovative technologies and solving hard problems for aerospace and defense applications. The successful candidate will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams in areas such as controls, motors and drives. electric propulsion systems, Radio Frequency (RF) power systems, power distribution.

Primary Responsibilities:

The candidate will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams in areas such as electromagnetic (such as electrical machines and transformers) controls, motors, and drives. electric propulsion systems, Radio Frequency (RF) power systems, power distribution.

Required Qualifications:

The preferred candidate should have a good understanding of engineering principles and basic hands-on experience working with laboratory equipment.  The candidate must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on learning, innovation and possess a variety of competencies and skills including: 

  • Have basic knowledge in the electrical and electronics systems and components, power systems, control systems.
  • Have basic knowledge of electromagnetic, such as electrical machine, transformers
  • Have knowledge of hardware, modeling, and simulations.
  • Have basic knowledge in electronics, power electronics, relevant controls, electromagnetic for electrical machines, hardware design and prototyping.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Presentation, engineering problem solving, application of analytical skills to the development of new technology.
  • Motivated with ability to participate in multi-disciplinary teams and to deliver to challenging technical objectives through creative problem solving and innovative thinking.
  • Good communication skills – written and presentation.

Education:

Candidate must be a student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in an STEM discipline. 

Work Authorization Required:

U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
