The strategic Surgical OU R&D IT Business Partner is the primary liaison between IT and the Surgical R&D function. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding business needs, aligning IT strategies with business goals, and ensuring the delivery of effective IT solutions that drive business value.
You will serve as the IT Portfolio owner for Medtronic’s Global Surgical R&D organization, translating R&D strategy into a cohesive technology roadmap, championing modern engineering practices—including Generative AI for software development — and delivering programs that shorten product development cycles, reduce technical debt, and improve quality, security, and cost efficiency. The role demands a self-starter who can operate independently, influence senior leadership, and own outcomes end-to-end.

STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT
- Collaborate with R&D leadership to understand business objectives and develop IT strategies that support these goals.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Accountability to the overall IT Portfolio supporting Surgical R&D from inception to completion, ensuring they meet business requirements, timelines, and budgets.
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the R&D Function to ensure IT initiatives are aligned with business needs.
BUSINESS OPERATIONS SUPPORT
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT colleagues to ensure business can operate effectively to achieve expected outcomes, bringing products to market and providing services to customers.
SOLUTION DELIVERY
- Oversee the delivery of IT solutions, ensuring they are effective, efficient, and meet the needs of the business.
INNOVATION
- Identify opportunities for leveraging technology to drive innovation and improve business processes within Surgical R&D, with a particular focus on Digital Product Infrastructure.
RISK MANAGEMENT
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with IT projects, business operations, and high-profile digital risks such as Cybersecurity and Product Security.
VENDOR MANAGEMENT
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure delivery of high-quality I
