What Does a Successful DevOps Software Engineer Do at Fiserv?

At Fiserv, Clover, a successful DevOps Software Engineer plays a pivotal role in shaping the infrastructure that powers our innovative payment solutions. You’ll architect and automate scalable CI/CD pipelines, manage cloud-based infrastructure, and integrate performance, testing, and security tools to optimize the software development lifecycle. You will collaborate across engineering, operations, and security to ensure high performance, reliability, and continuous improvement across our platforms. What You Will Do

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable and efficient CI/CD pipelines.

• Build and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.

• Integrate tools for unit testing, security scanning, and performance monitoring.

• Collaborate with engineers to identify and resolve deployment and operational bottlenecks.

• Optimize system performance and resource utilization.

• Ensure security best practices are implemented across infrastructure and pipelines.

• Provide technical support for DevOps platforms and tools (e.g., GitHub, Jira, Confluence).

• Improve processes to boost deployment efficiency and reduce development lifecycle errors.

• Write and maintain detailed documentation for systems, pipelines, and operational procedures.

• Mentor team members on DevOps practices, tools, and strategies.

• Participate in incident response and resolve production issues promptly.

What You Will Need To Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

• 12+ years of experience in complex software development.

• 10+ years of technical leadership, particularly within software engineering teams.

• Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.

• Experience with Kubernetes (K8s), Puppet, and scripting in Python or GoLang.

• Solid experience with Java/Spring and Node.js-based microservices.

• Strong Linux systems knowledge and troubleshooting skills.

• Experience designing and supporting cloud-based microservices.

• Familiarity with cloud providers such as GCP and AWS.

• Experience with data streaming architectures and public cloud technologies.

• Deep understanding of testing frameworks and methodologies (functional & non-functional).

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What Would Be Great To Have

• Passion for continuous improvement and automation.

• Experience with GitOps practices and tools like ArgoCD or Flux.

• Knowledge of container security tools and policies.

• Familiarity with observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).

• Exposure to service mesh architectures (e.g., Istio or Linkerd).

Salary Range

$108,900.00 - $186,800.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
