What You’ll Do

As an Operations Accountant, you will support key accounting and operational processes, including metal procurement, freight accounting, inventory accounting, manufacturing cost analysis, and operational reporting. This role partners with plant operations, procurement, vendors, and finance teams to support financial accuracy and operational visibility across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate and process metal receipts while resolving pricing discrepancies, non-receipts, and purchase order variances
  • Partner with vendors and plants to resolve Advance Shipping Notification (ASN) issues
  • Support communication and issue resolution related to supplier payments and procurement discrepancies
  • Prepare and analyze metal price variances and customer pass-through reporting
  • Complete monthly journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis
  • Review and investigate freight invoices and related discrepancies
  • Process mill and vendor claims and support monthly executive reporting
  • Maintain and revise standard costs for steel coils and support ongoing cost accounting initiatives
  • Reconcile utility invoices and distribute findings to plant leadership teams
  • Support ad hoc analysis, process improvements, and cross-functional accounting projects

What You Bring

The ideal candidate combines accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively across teams in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing accounting, inventory accounting, operations accounting, or cost accounting environments
  • Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE) or similar ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reconciliation modeling
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with finance and operational teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
