SCOPE:

The Customer Success Senior Benefits Analyst will act as a consultant in the design, administration, and optimization of MHIA and affiliate health and welfare benefits programs. This role provides in-depth support to affiliates by delivering complex data analyses and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws. The Sr. Benefits Analyst will lead initiatives related to plan design, vendor management, and process improvements.

 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six (6) years of relevant benefits experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a strategic liaison between the organization and external benefits vendors and third-party administrators, custodian’s and investment advisors and ensuring seamless communication, issue resolution, and alignment with contractual obligations and service level agreements.
  • Deliver high-level consultative support to internal and external stakeholders, resolving complex benefits inquiries with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and service excellence.
  • Provide customer reminders, support and training on fiduciary responsibilities and regulatory updates.
  • Design and implement targeted communication tools to enhance employee understanding and engagement with the company’s benefits offerings across multiple customers and with varying plans.
  • Support Benefits Analysts with complex cases or inquiries escalated for further, more in-depth review.
  • Understand data transfer flow to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.
  • Assess and enhance internal benefits processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain and update documentation for benefits procedures, identifying gaps and recommending process improvements to enhance accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations. Maintain timeliness and accuracy in required reporting and fees.
  • Oversee and support complex daily benefits operations, including enrollment, compliance, claims, and regulatory processes, while identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance service delivery.
  • Manage employee benefits files, update group benefits database, and maintain employee payroll records.
  • Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans.
  • Support benefits plan audits by preparing and validating complex data, collaborating with actuarial teams to interpret findings, and recommending data driven improvements to ensure compliance and plan integrity.
  • Analyze benefits utilization, cost trends, and market benchmarks to evaluate plan performance and recommend strategic adjustments aligned with organizational goals and employee needs.
  • Review both short- and long-term cost estimates, projections, and relevant statistical analyses related to changes in benefits programs and the implementation of new programs.
  • Monitor industry trends and conduct in-depth analysis of benefits survey data to forecast emerging patterns, support future plan design, and develop strategic recommendations for leadership review.
  • Monitor administrative costs of benefits programs and recommend strategies for cost containment, including alternative methods for administration and funding.
  • Prepare budget recommendations and assist in monitoring, verifying, and reconciling budgeted funds.
