Job Description:

Lead in managing safe operation of undergraduate laboratories in Chemical Engineering. Maintain and repair pilot scale specialized equipment.  Maintain and operate laboratory analytical equipment (Gas Chromatographs, Microscopes, Spectrometers, Scales, Ovens, etc.  Run and demonstrate procedures for equipment in the teaching labs.  Procure and inventory all supplies needed for daily operations of undergraduate laboratories.  Use of hand tools and machinery to fabricate and install pilot scale laboratory equipment.  Have basic knowledge of existing and future control packages in the UO teaching labs.

50% Lead in managing inventory, laboratory hardware and consumables for the department. Lead in the planning, fabrication, maintenance, operation and repair of specialized teaching equipment, including maintenance and repair of pilot scale specialized equipment. Maintain and operate laboratory analytical equipment (Gas Chromatographs, Microscopes, Spectrometer, Scales, Ovens, etc. Utilize hand tools and machinery to fabricate and install pilot scale laboratory equipment.

40% Lead in the daily management of safe operations of undergraduate laboratories. Maintain a safe and effective learning environment.  Document and communicate laboratory procedures, policies and processes for students and faculty. Demonstrate procedures and train students and teaching assistants in the use and operation of laboratory equipment in the teaching labs.

5% Engage students1:1 in the execution of laboratory work. Procure and inventory all supplies needed for daily operations of undergraduate laboratories. Have basic knowledge of existing and future control packages in the UO teaching labs.

5% Work with faculty to support our undergraduate educational mission and maintain accreditation. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's and 1 year of related experience
