Arlington County's Department of Human Services (DHS) is hiring an experienced full-time bilingual (English/Spanish) Human Services Clinician to support Arlington Partner/SHIFT (Shaping Healthy Interactions for Tomorrow) Program, a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and survivor-centered human services program. The Human Services Clinician will provide clinical support and direct services for participants enrolled in the Arlington Partner/SHIFT Program. The Partner/SHIFT Program is a county-wide and state-certified domestic violence intervention program focused on intimate partner violence support and accountability for those that caused harm. While the Human Services Clinician will work with all Partner/SHIFT clients, they will primarily serve the program's Spanish-speaking clients. The Human Services Clinician is part of the Economic Independence Division (EID) Project Peace in the Department of Human Services.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing direct clinical interventions including intakes and risks assessments, facilitating weekly (approximately three), psycho-educational classes, and providing one-on-one therapeutic interventions, diagnosis, and treatment planning through case management;
- Completing all client documentation including maintaining client databases and writing weekly progress notes and monthly status reports in addition to conducting regular quality assurance and review;
- Participating in case staffing and supervision meetings for clinical review and case management;
- Engaging with victims of the participants in the program (domestic violence survivors) by conducting ongoing and accurate risk assessments, developing safety plans, and making referrals;
- Collaborating with community and referral partners to ensure holistic support of clients; and
- Assisting participants with accessing other resources by providing them with information on available resources and services, making needed referrals and advocating when needed.
The ideal candidate will have experience in facilitating mental health or support groups; exceptional organization and communication skills; and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Minimums:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other directly related clinical discipline, all of which required a clinical practicum involving diagnostic, treatment and case management services;
- At least two years of experience working in the field of domestic or intimate partner violence which included the application of diagnostic treatment and case management services; and
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Substitution: Directly related higher level clinical degrees may substitute for the Master’s Degree education requirement and 1 year of experience.
Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
- Working with criminal justice partners, Victim Witness agencies, non-profit partners; educators, and other government officials; and/or
- Clinical license (LPC, LCSW, LCP, LMFT) in Virginia.
Special Requirements
Applicant must possess, or obtain by the time of appointment, a valid motor vehicle operator's license from the applicant's place of residence or the applicant must have the ability and willingness to use alternative methods of transportation to perform assigned duties and responsibilities at multiple locations other than the primary worksite.
