Principal Engineer– Grid Modeling and Compliance

Key Responsibilities

Perform Electro-magnetic Transient (EMT) Studies such as sub synchronous resonance (SSR), control interaction (SSCI), ferro-resonance, temporary overvoltage (TOV), switching overvoltage (SOV), transient recovery voltage (TRV), power quality (harmonic, and flicker ), energization, etc.

Assist in developing and tuning models in collaboration with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to achieve desired performance requirement established in grid codes.

Produce and/or review technical reports and presentations and translate for an executive audience.

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for PSCAD modeling and special studies.

Serve as a SME for transmission grid reliability, modeling and compliance.

Actively attend industry large load stakeholder meetingsand drive proactive changes.

Stay up to date with assigned market changes in terms of NERC, FERC planning procedures, policy changes and developments.

Support interconnection model development and review of utility commissioned technical deliverables.

Maintain up to date knowledge of NERC standards related to grid modeling.

Contribute to the team’s research and innovation activities.

Support CHIL testing of BESS, Fuel cells, or any onsite generation technologies
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in power system modeling, analysis, and studies.
Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a power systems focus.
5+ years of recent experience developing PSCAD models for utility interconnections.
Experience with additional tools such as PSS/E, RSCAD, DIgSILENT, PowerFactory or similar platforms is preferred.
Working knowledge of applicable IEEE, IEC, CIGRE, utility, and industry standards.
Strong experience developing and validating generator, load, equipment, and inverter-bas
