Job Description
- Provide leadership in the development and use of improvement techniques within Quality Assurance by providing training, monitoring commitments, key findings, and actions
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of advanced quality planning techniques (FMEA's Control Plans, Capability Studies, Aviation Customer & FAA Audits, Supplier Audits, Measuring and Test Equipment Studies, Product Validation and SPC)
- Maintain Greer location quality management system, FAA certifications & related quality systems, repair stations and FAA production activities.
- Become a Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR)
- Conduct bi-annual in-person audits of the Hermosillo, MX FAA management system.
- Analyze and investigate the root cause of external and internal non-conforming products. Initiate and coordinate corrective and preventive actions and verify effectiveness.
- Assists in review and disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility by: Devising new or improved testing and inspection methods, initiating and amending receiving inspection procedures and test set-ups, and contacting vendors concerning quality deficiencies.
- Evaluate production processes and environment in order to identify sources of variance and poor quality. Implement corrective actions and/or program(s) to eliminate or drastically reduce quality issues.
- Participate on NPI (New Product Introduction) teams and product transfer teams; plan, conduct and report the product qualification tests, ensure existence of appropriate work instructions and plan follow-up reviews on and for the NPI projects.
- Contribute to, and utilize, ideas and information generated from working with key individuals both within and outside of the organization.
- Plan activities, create and publish reports for overall defect and cost reduction programs for FAA operation & CDC.
- Prepare periodic and special reports on quality statistics and other related quality issues on assigned programs(s) or product area(s).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, 4-6 years quality experience with similar complexity of products and systems
- Thorough knowledge and experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 preferred
- ASQ Quality Certification preferred
- Fluency with process control plans, FMEA, 8-D problem solving, data analysis/reporting and statistical concepts (SPC)
- Strong ability to prepare for and perform internal quality audits, generate audit reports, corrective actions, verify integrity of root cause analysis and effectiveness of corrective actions
- Extensive experience with building quality into processes through the use of Jidoka, Poke Yoke, Andon systems, and other tools
- Strong communication, negotiation and team moderation skills and ability to manage time and workload constraints
- Experience in project management (project planning and tracking, risk management)
