Job Description
Team:
ServiceNow Project RaptorDB, based on Postgres, the world's most advanced open‑source database, acts as a foundational data layer that will allow ServiceNow customers to process massive volumes of transactional data on the Now Platform in real time to meet the demands of AI‑powered applications. It adds analytical capabilities to meet advanced reporting and data mining needs. This team is building the core of RaptorDB and even the smallest optimization can have a dramatic impact on our customers and our bottom line.
We are looking for a continuous integration specialists who enjoy developing build- and integration automation and complex test systems. You get to play a key role in driving the success of our ServiceNow database. You will work directly with other engineers on the Data Platform team solving challenging problems and ensure high quality releases, reliable test execution and a high degree of automation. Our work is based on Postgres with significant in-house enhancements and unique features. This is your opportunity to contribute to cutting edge database software used at massive scale.
What you get to do in this role:
- You’ll collaborate with a team of 15+ dedicated database-internals engineers.
- Be part of building the next-gen database platform using and contributing to the latest open-source technologies
- Help the team to automate and optimize the existing development, build, and test processes.
- Innovate to improve our CI/CD pipeline further and develop new approaches and solutions.
- Creatively find solutions to development & test challenges – at large scale and high complexity.
- Build Dev-Ops experience in a highly automated environment.
- Work with and learn from highly experienced test engineers.
- Partner with core and cross-functional teams to create the next-generation database engine powering ServiceNow.
To be successful in this role you have:
- Extensive experience with CI/CD systems, task runner scripts, and/or benchmarking tools
- A background in professional software development
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages like Ruby, Python, shell scripts
- A passion for automation and when everything runs autonomously and smoothly.
- Experience with external integrations against Azure, AWS and GCP
- Some knowledge of SQL, knowledge of MariaDB and/or Postgres is a plus.
- Solid understanding and experience with agile software development methodologies
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for learning new technologies.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience developing professional software.
- 3+ years of experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins or TeamCity
- Proven track record in the development of automation scripts and integration of automated tests
- Experience with SQL
Nice to have:
- Foundational database administration skills are a plus.
- Some Experience with low-level languages such as C/C++
