What’s the role?

The User Experience Foundation initiative is foundational to product development at Etsy, enabling teams to build brand-aligned, inclusive, usable products at scale. You’ll manage a product design team responsible for creating the visual and interactive systems that product teams rely upon to build beautiful, usable and accessible user experiences for the millions of Etsy buyers and sellers across the world.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Product Design Director for Enablement and the base salary range will be 172,000.00 - 224,000.00 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. Together the team delivers systematic solutions to challenging problems, pressure testing those ideas along the way and getting direct feedback from our internal customers. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional leads to craft the vision, strategy and operations of our initiative, while coaching and mentoring the talented group of product designers that report to you.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Lead regular design reviews, critiques, and brainstorming sessions for your teams
• Facilitate continuous learning and improvement for the product design team and its members
• Recruit and hire outstanding design talent and facilitate onboarding of new designers
• Work alongside the broader Design Leadership team to craft our teams’ culture, processes, and tools
• Ensure we are building the right products for our customers, and help teams take the best near-term steps toward their long-term vision
• Advocate for our customer, and guide teams to deliver well-executed, on-brand, accessible experiences
• Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law

• You incorporate advancements in the field of product design to guide the skills and practices of our team
• You develop a deep understanding of current design patterns and UX trends, and can guide your design team to use these in practice
• You use holistic thinking to identify customer experience opportunities that create impact across the organization
• You’re an experienced design leader who can help shape our design management practices and are sought out as a mentor by other design leaders
