Job purpose

This is an intern / co-op position for an Engineering Student in the Drivetrain & Battery Systems business unit.  The candidate will be responsible for assisting with program audits, structured problem solving and risk assessments, scheduling, and reporting on results.

Key responsibilities

• Quality Management System:
  • Schedule and take part in program audits to ensure compliance to BorgWarner and customer requirements.
  • Work with team to develop Power BI dashboard to monitor quality key performance indicators (KPI) specific to battery systems North America.
  • Assist local production sites to address any gaps in QMS system.
• Problem Solving:
  • Assist in structured problem-solving process (8D) for customer returns.
  • Lead facilitator for Shainin RedX coaching for battery systems North America.
  • Support lessons learned read across activity to other plants or regions.
• Customer Focus:
  • Support upcoming quality workshop planning process and execution.
  • Work with manager and cross functional team to develop and execute strategy for customer satisfaction in quality and service team.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager.

What we’re looking for

• Student working toward a bachelor’s degree (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Preferred)

• Willingness to learn tools such as 8D, 5 whys, Quality Alerts to resolve quality issues.
• Knowledge of the Automotive core tools (APQP, MSA, PPAP, FMEA, SPC).
• Excellent drive for results with the ability to coordinate projects from start to completion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
