The position is responsible for being the primary focal point to the plants for the Olefins, I&D, and HRO mass balance activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing with consistent application of global accounting procedures. Additional responsibilities include LIFO and FIFO inventory valuation support, actual cost computation, product costing support, inventory adjustments, and reviewing inventory count reconciliations. This role will continually drive for process optimization and standardization, partnering with global Manufacturing, Finance, and Supply Chain linkages. This position will report directly to the Senior Manager - Inventory Accounting and mange a team of 3 direct reports in a Houston Center of Excellence as well as provide oversight of shared service personnel covering volumetric transactions of our BPO partner Accenture.
A Day In The Life:
- Expertise of key inventory flows in SAP and lead business partner with plant personnel in yield analysis for applicable manufacturing facilities, understanding related financial impacts and reviews of corresponding entries and reconciliations.
- Lead and mentor direct reports in delivering efficient and effective processes on behalf of Inventory Accounting and in accordance with corporate policies and legislative requirements.
- Support Senior Manager-Inventory Accounting in the management of the Accenture inventory accounting services.
- Manage a high performing transactional processing team with globally benchmarked role profiles, team skills gap assessment and appropriate recruitment plan. Manage the hiring process within the agreed headcount budget, ensuring appropriate talent pool is developed, selected and maintained. Responsible for implementing continuous process standardization aligned across the global team, including back-up and cross training strategies.
- Support the Senior Manager-Inventory Accounting to deliver team goals, fostering a culture of preciseness, curiosity, premium customer support, and passion for knowledge sharing.
- Perform SOx controls and maintain evidence of control for area of responsibility.
- Lead and supporting roles in global Inventory and LYB enterprise initiatives.
- Implement and track process performance indicators and metrics, explaining trends in performance and against benchmarks.
- Responsible to review key quarterly / monthly controls and to support leadership in the quality review of all key controls to ensure controls continue to operate effectively.
- 1Support the Senior Manager-Inventory Accounting to develop, enhance, and maintain detailed and high level process overviews, global accounting procedures, and process controls.
You Bring This Value:
- Minimum of 8 years of finance and/or accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- Understanding of technical US GAAP across a variety of topics preferred. Exposure to local European GAAP and IFRS is an advantage.
- Experience with Internal Controls and SOX/404 requirements.
- Experience in a global, fast-paced, dynamic and deadline driven environment.
- Passion for challenging status quo and seeking opportunities to heighten the analytical capabilities of the team.
- Deep understanding of the business and finance processes within the Petrochemicals business model, highly desirable.
- SAP experience (Materials Management module experience is a plus).
- Experienced in leading an operational finance team (e.g. financial shared service function, managing a closing process or Finance Manager) in an organization with similar regional operational scale and geographic footprint.
- Finance Professional certification e.g. CPA, CIMA, a plus.
