Job Purpose
National Grid is seeking to hire a Director, Program Development, Governance & Partnerships Workforce Development in support of our organization’s efforts in building a sustainable pipeline of diverse talent in support of the clean energy transition. Reporting to the Chief People Officer NY, this role will lead the strategy, planning and execution of our external workforce development portfolio aimed at enriching lives and the economic strength of New York State.
Key Accountabilities
• Develop a strong understanding of the workforce development system and its partners to produce efficient and successful processes that meet the goals within the NY workforce development strategic plan that are aligned with National Grid’s DEI commitments and strategic workforce plan/hiring forecast.
o Implement and maintain processes to provide a centralized view of all workforce development program activities across NY.
o Establish an annual budget across departments and implement robust tracking to monitor spend.
o Establish metrics and reporting structure to measure success, growth, and impact.
o Utilize data driven insights to support the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of workforce development programs to continuously improve initiatives.
• Lead the development and implementation of a senior level governance structure to ensure alignment of strategy, program objectives, roles & responsibilities, and clearly defined outcomes for NY’s workforce development portfolio.
• Provide oversight, monitoring and technical assistance to the assigned projects and contracts.
• Actively explore and pursue grant proposal development that support the expansion and sustainability of workforce development initiatives.
• Establish and maintain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, external training providers, educational institutions, and industry associations.
o Stay abreast of industry trends, state/federal policy changes, and emerging technologies and best practices applying this knowledge to continuously enhance and adapt our programs.
• Develop internal/external communication strategy to build awareness and support for the organization’s commitment building economic resilience within our communities.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 7+ years post-graduation experience in roles requiring successful management of change, involvement in strategic planning and project management skills.
• Understands theory behind policies and processes and demonstrates the ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working e.g., create opportunities to improve existing practices.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally with diverse teams (sound negotiation and problem-solving skills).
• Experience in presenting and leading discussions.
• Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data to present ideas, and make change recommendations.
• Ability and experience in challenging existing processes and ways of working.
• Strategic thinking skills and capabilities to develop long-term strategy for sustainable results and to prepare the organization to address change, tackle challenges and shape new strategies.
• Takes specific actions to lead and enable multi-functional teams to operate effectively and efficiently.
