As a <a href="https://www.veeva.com/pbc/">Public Benefit Corporation</a>, you will also work for a company focused on making a positive impact on its customers, employees, and communities.<br/>The Role<br/>Veeva’s Legal Team is looking for an experienced employment attorney to be part of our highly motivated, tightly knit, and collaborative legal team. You will lead the employment law function for the Company’s EMEA Region, providing counsel and advice in all aspects of the employment relationship and managing a portfolio of contentious matters. We are looking for a high performer who is comfortable with ambiguity, has experience working in a matrix, decentralized environment, and has a proven ability to work with senior management, including top-level executives. The ideal candidate is able to recognize and communicate the business consequences of legal advice, has a “roll up the sleeves” attitude, and is a team player. This role can be located in the UK or Germany and will report to the Associate General Counsel – Chief Global Employment Lawyer located in the US. While this is a Work Anywhere opportunity, you must already be based and be eligible for employment in the UK or in Germany, as Veeva does not sponsor employment visas or relocation processes for this role.
<h3>What You'll Do</h3>
<ul>
<li>Provide advice and counsel to the EMEA Employee Success Team (HR) on all aspects of employment law</li><li>Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements, including severance agreements</li><li>Coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts, including external counsel, when needed, and manage employment-related litigation</li><li>Assist with other corporate initiatives as required (e.g., M&A, commercial, and compliance matters)</li><li>Travel to European countries to attend court with external counsel where necessary</li><li>Support the continuous improvement of internal processes</li><li>Keep up to date with new developments in employment legislation and advise HR of any necessary changes</li><li>Establish and build good working relationships with senior EU leadership and other internal clients (manager and HR) based on mutual trust and respect, as well as knowledge of the company’s business, needs, and goals</li><li>Internal legal counsel to management for EMEA Works Councils</li></ul>
<h3>Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>Experience with different kinds of employment issues (e.g., wage and hour, dismissals, compensation, discipline, works councils, and unions)</li><li>Experience managing employment disputes (e.g., litigation) in more than one major European country</li><li>A confident, low ego, and positive lawyer with experience providing advice and counsel in all employment matters, including hiring, discipline, and dismissals, drafting employment-related documents, and leading assigned projects to positive conclusions</li><li>Proven experience and comfortable with risk, working in ambiguous situations, thoughtful but business-minded</li><li>Strong aptitude for drafting documents, emails, and anything else in a very precise manner, while still being concise and digestible for non-lawyers. Attention to detail is a must</li><li>Ability to successfully work independently but also able to use good judgment and escalate issues when needed</li><li>Skilled at working cross-functionally and collaboratively with different departments</li><li>Strong project management skills</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Licensed attorney</li><li>Minimum seven years qualified</li><li>Strong academic background</li></ul>
<h3>Nice to Have</h3>
