MTSS & Data Lead, Lucy Laney Community School

Position Summary
The MTSS & Data Lead will support the development and implementation of an integrated, culturally and linguistically responsive and sustaining Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) at Lucy Laney. The MTSS & Data Lead must have a strong understanding of the MTSS framework in order to provide effective guidance, coaching, support and feedback to all stakeholders. The MTSS & Data Lead is committed to educational equity and understands how student strengths, identities and abilities are essential in providing culturally sustaining instruction using a tiered approach for all students. The MTSS & Data Lead will collaborate with building leadership to continually improve effective Tier I practices and coordinate and facilitate the implementation of  Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports, with the specific goal of accelerating growth and increasing proficiency.

 

Essential Functions 

  • Collaborate with building leadership to implement teaming structures at the building, PLC, and individual student level to leverage shared decision-making for effective MTSS implementation.  

  • Facilitate and participate in data meetings to analyze schoolwide, classwide, student group, and individual student data and deploy resources and support accordingly. The MTSS & Data Lead has strong data literacy skills used to develop,  implement, and evaluate comprehensive prevention and intervention plans aligned to appropriate measures of progress monitoring in conjunction with other data sources (formative assessments, observations, etc.). The site lead has a deep knowledge of the psychometric principles of universal screening, including decision rules, target scores, rate of improvement, and graphing.

  • Guide, coach, support, and provide feedback to instructional staff regarding the use of student data to inform academic, social and emotional, and behavioral instruction.

  • Establish and maintain effective team meeting norms, procedures, and protocols. Leverage the district-determined student database to maintain records, track student progress and student outcomes, and measure intervention implementation fidelity. 

  • Continually seek to improve MTSS implementation; monitor and adjust as needed in response to student, parent, teacher, or administrator input and feedback. 

  • Collaborate with K-12 MTSS Content Leads to continually build deeper levels of understanding of the MnMTSS framework.

  • Monitor and meet regularly with MTSS instructional staff to provide coaching on the use of individual data to drive instruction and ensure procedures for MTSS Team meetings are consistently implemented. Working with teams, the MTSS & Data Lead will use a data driven process to provide and support strategic MTSS prevention (Tier 1) and intervention (Tier 2/3) as well as tracking of both student progress and student outcomes.

  • Build understanding of framework and best practices for all stakeholders and provide professional development of best practices at all three tiers

  • Participate in required school and district-wide meetings, training, professional development, and professional coaching. Participate in site-based management and shared decision-making.

  • Facilitate teams of teachers in using the MTSS Data Dives & Diagnostics Core Component to develop instructional plans responsive to student needs.

  • Collaborate and communicate with families to make educational decisions and use family and community resources to support learning.
