Summary:

The Senior Director of Enterprise Risk Management develops the University’s Enterprise Risk Management strategy, governance and management tools necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor operational and strategic risks. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Business Services, the Senior Director works with University leaders to establish and manage the Enterprise Risk Management architecture for the University. The Senior Director monitors all operational risk management activities, risks within the University’s business units and reports on these risks to the Assistant Vice President of Business Services. The Senior Director is responsible for managing the University’s insurance, risk management, safety, compliance and emergency planning functions. The Senior Director serves on the University’s Threat Assessment, and Enterprise Risk Management teams and provides advice to all University stakeholders on mitigating risk.

Essential Functions:

1.) Enterprise Risk Management

• Develop and execute a comprehensive Enterprise risk management strategy aligned with the University’s objectives, including management of the annual enterprise risk assessment.

• Manage and develop policies, frameworks, and processes for identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating Enterprise risks across all business units, including the establishment and maintenance of enterprise risk tolerance.

• Regularly update Enterprise risk assessments and profiles, presenting findings to the University leadership.

• Oversee the management of ongoing issues by working with internal audit, legal, information technology and business unit teams to address any organizational, regulatory or enterprise risks.

• Manages the risk management function of the University.

2.) Insurance Strategy and Administration

• Responsible for developing insurance strategy by aligning insurance plan with enterprise risk strategy, and based on input from university leadership.

• Plans for and manages the University’s coverage elections, student health insurance, and other insurance programs.

• Develops annual renewal strategy and proactively identifies risk mitigation tactics and techniques to secure favorable rates and renewals for the University.

3.) Risk Management

• Provides advice and guidance to Risk Management department on administration of risk program, insurance matters, exceptions management, policy and compliance matters.

4.) Emergency Preparedness Planning

• Co-leads the development and implementation of campus wide emergency preparedness plans with the Assistant Vice President of Business Services and Assistant Vice President of University Safety and University Police.

5.) Supervision and Management

• Manages the Enterprise Risk Management team, including supervision for  three direct reports.
