Overnight Security Guard/Behavioral Health Associate (11 PM - 7:30 AM)

About the role

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Security Oversight:
    • Monitor facility premises to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, and property.
    • Conduct regular patrols of the units and common areas, maintaining a visible presence.
    • Respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies, following established protocols.
    • Staff Support:
    • Assist nursing supervisors and BHA 4 in nightly operations and patient care.
    • Collaborate with the nursing team to address patient needs and staff requirements.
    • Act as a resource for staff and patients in the absence of hospital directors.
    • Required to cover 1:1 observations on patients occasionally if directed by supervisor, and also round the unit(s) and check on patients individually with electronic checks IPAD
    • Supply Management:
    • Replenish units with necessary supplies, including medical and personal items.
    • Stock utility rooms and ensure that all areas are adequately supplied.
    • Manage and deliver the overnight tray of snacks and refreshments to the units.
    • Communication:
    • Maintain clear and open communication with nursing supervisors and BHA 4(lead BHA) regarding patient observations and any security concerns.
    • Document incidents and report findings to the appropriate personnel.
    • Maintain inventory of supply room, and communicate what supplies need to be re-ordered to our administrative assistant in accordance with our list of supplies that need to be routinely ordered. Orders are usually placed on Thursdays, therefore the needs list will need to be submitted on Wednesday nights.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in security or healthcare preferred.
    • Previous experience in a psychiatric or healthcare environment is a plus.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Basic understanding of psychiatric patient care and safety protocols.
    • Must be able to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
    • Must be able to lift and carry supplies as needed.

    Working Conditions:

    • Overnight shift from 11 PM to 7:30 AM.
    May be required to work weekends and holidays
