Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to be based in Providence, Rhode Island or Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
This position is expected to begin in June 2024.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and conduct geotechnical investigations and prepare Geotechnical Data Reports.
- Evaluate subsurface conditions and calculate bearing capacity and settlement for shallow foundations.
- Conduct seepage and stability analyses for dams, levees, tunnels, and natural and man-made slopes.
- Conduct finite element analysis for soil-structure interaction of excavation supports and tunnels using commercially available software.
- Design deep foundations for buildings, bridges, and major structures.
- Perform site specific ground motion time history analysis and evaluate seismic risk and liquefaction potential.
- Perform safety inspections for dams, floodwalls, and flood control levees.
- Assist with geotechnical characterization for tunneling projects, including data evaluation and preparing data summary plots and histogram.
- Assist with preparation of Geotechnical Baseline Reports and Geotechnical Design Memoranda for tunnel projects.
- Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Experience with Plaxis, Slope/W, and AutoCAD.
- Experience in the Water/Wastewater/Transportation Industry.
- Relevant intern and/or professional experience as a Geotechnical Engineer.
- Ability to work with a diverse team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture.
- Experienced, self-directed professional.
- Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines.
- Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment.
Additional Information
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
- We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States. Permanent residency sponsorship is available for current H1-B visa holders in the United States.
- The selected candidate must be available to work in Providence, RI or Chelmsford, MA.
- Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (MA locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000.
