Job Purpose/ Role
The Senior Expert Capital Solutions position is based at Allianz Re in Munich and reports to the Head of Capital and Legacy Solutions. This Capital and Legacy Solutions department encompasses Capital Management Reinsurance (P&C), Legacy Management, and Special Topics. It provides comprehensive support to the Allianz Group in effectively managing its portfolio of insurance and reinsurance assets, with a strong emphasis on optimizing Group Capital and delivering significant value through the provision of reinsurance capital, legacy, and specialized solutions to Allianz Re and the Allianz subsidiaries worldwide.

 

The Senior Expert Capital Solutions at Allianz is responsible for developing and implementing Property and Casualty reinsurance strategies to optimize capital usage and financial indicators globally. This role involves leading the annual renewal of reinsurance transactions, collaborating with internal and external partners, conducting thorough analytics, and driving solutions in a complex and competitive environment while maintaining effective communication with stakeholders.

 

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement P&C reinsurance strategies to optimize capital usage and financial indicators for the Allianz Group and its subsidiaries globally.
• Lead the annual renewal of reinsurance transactions for the countries of responsibility, leveraging financial, insurance and reinsurance analyses to drive informed renewal strategies and decision making.
• Collaborate within the team, AZ Re, Allianz Group and its subsidiaries to pursue and execute non-life prospective and retrospective transactions effectively, while integrating data-driven analytics to enhance transaction prioritization and outcomes. Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure successful design, bidding, and execution of transactions.
• Negotiate transaction terms with internal and external counterparts. Represent Allianz Re and Allianz Group interests in negotiations with counterparts.
• Prepare comprehensive proposals and updates for Group committees, based on in-depth analytical insights to support strategic recommendations.
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for partnerships and individual transactions with both internal and potential external partners.
• Monitor transaction performance and maintain regular communication and collaboration with Allianz subsidiaries and Group Centers. Regularly monitor the portfolio of outstanding transactions and prepare stakeholder reporting.
• Drive and implement solutions in a complex and highly competitive environment, while balancing multiple stakeholder interests and perspectives to develop structurally and economically sound solutions.

 

Qualifications

• Fluent in English (written and spoken) and ideally one other language, German is an advantage 
• Graduate degree in a mathematics, economics or related discipline, additional degree/qualification is a plus

 

Experience

• Work experience (>6 years) in a relevant senior position in reinsurance, finance, or related activity
• Underwriting/transactional experience with P&C re/insurance risks
• Proven experience in analytical role in actuarial or finance function
• Work experience in a client-focused role
• Proven experience in successfully managing stakeholders and building productive business relationships
• Practical experience with relevant Allianz Group/Allianz Re systems (ECCS, SICS, GRIP, FRP)
• International work experience, demonstrating an understanding of global business practices and cultural diversity
• Work experience in a relevant field in an Allianz subsidiary beneficial

 

Business Understanding and Analytical Skills

• Excellent business understanding of: 
  • P&C reinsurance contract structures and terms/wording
  • Underlying primary P&C insurance business
  • (Re)insurance financial statements, regulation, and risk capital frameworks
• Capability of analyzing critical and complex reinsurance and financial aspects within a short timeframe 
• Actuarial, investment and risk management knowledge beneficial
• Strong analytical ability and financial/reinsurance modeling skills
